About me

I'm Richard Jahn, I've been oil painting for most of my life - it's something I like a lot and get into.   I'm also a full time proffessional firefighter when I'm not involved with my art.

My earliest love of art grew from looking at  psychadelic posters and album covers of the 60's which I still love today - I hope that my art reflects at least a little bit of the "trippy-ness" that came from that era.   I also have a deep love for the early Dutch artists with Peter Brughal being my favorite - I also hope that you see at least a little bit of his influence in some of my paintings.

Most of what I do is self-taught.  In the past I took some art classes but in the end found that none of them taught me anything useful about actually being an artist  - so decided to just "GO FOR IT" and do things my own way, which has worked out fine for me.      It's been a great adventure that seems to get better all the time.

I live in the Seattle area which is where a lot of my scenes come from.   Otherwise I'm married and have three grown kids.   When I'm not painting or fighting fires I love to downhill ski and go horseback riding.

That's who I am.  I hope you like the paintings.

I've got a lot more pictures on my facebook page so please check that out too.
